CSCS – July 15 Event #3 at Mosport DDT

July 15th was yet another successful CSCS event held at Mosport DDT. Despite the weather forecast, the show was solidly packed with show cars, spectators and competitors for Drift and Time Attack. Even when it rained right after the first round of Drifting, people stayed for the remainder of the event – another 4 hours!

During practice, the M.Y. Racing (Maruyichi Auto)Civic Hatch rolled at the corner entering the front straight by the pits. It was definitely an unexpected flip from a consistently fast car that never misses out on these events. Thankfully, kudos to the roll cage, the driver made it out safely. Also, special thanks go to those who rushed out to roll the car back on its wheels and to help the driver out (see pics below).

On a lighter note, Defcon Racing took home First Place in Unlimited FWD in their insane turbo K20 DC2. Not only did they take first, but they beat the Ferrari lap time (he was there to set a lap record)! Needless to say, with the massive downpour, the track was very slippery. Track times under 1:10 were scant until the track started to dry up a bit. There was definitely great effort even though competitors were locking up and spinning out.

Congrats to all the winners! Times and positions can be seen here: http://livetiming.net/cscs/

Winners are denoted with a 1 in PIC.

Last fall we had the pleasure of meeting Darren from alphawerx for a small shoot. Having worked at BMW for 6 years so he knows the ins and out of most bavarian beasts. It it of no surprise that he himself owns one. On the outside this 1999 E36 M3 looks very unsuspecting. No flashing lights, no wild body kits. Everything looks like it just belongs; but don’t let that fool you. This yellow monster is boosted! Darren purchased and installed the kit himself (bmw mechanic, owns his own shop, why not!). It’s been running trouble free ever since he’s owned it. A testament…

Sunday was the last event on the 2012 CSCS calendar, the weather was a little on the chilly side but suited me just fine as the sun was beaming brightly.  The only dark cloud was the numerous reports  on social media outlets indicating a safety blitz by “Ontario’s Finest”. This did not damper the spirits of the hundreds of participants, exhibitors and enthusiasts as it was a great day to see people showcasing their beautiful cars, pushing their cars to the limit, breaking several track records and the amazing tandem drift performance. There were many familiar faces and cars at…

The Toronto Subaru Club (TSC) held it’s annual meet a few weeks ago, to the tune of 400+ cars. A great showing by any regards, with faithful attendees swarming in from remote parts of Canada. As with previous years, the event helps raise awareness and funds for the Ronald McDonald house. This year the TSC team raised an astounding 8,000$ which was matched by Subaru themselves. A great event, with an event greater cause – we congratulate TSC and it’s team and members.   Toronto Subaru Club Annual Charity Fundraiser for The Ronald McDonald House of Toronto Hyper Meeting 2012…

The long awaited Honda Tech 8 had finally arrived. Past events in previous years were held at Downsview Park in heart of mid-town Toronto, Ontario – thankfully things have changed this year. Mosport ftw. With a location distanced away from the city and ample parking, it made the commute less complicated. Even though I’m sure everyone obeyed traffic rules, it was relieving to drive on roads relatively free of the watching eye of enforcement. The day started off waking up to lightning, yet I don’t recall rain being a major part of the forecast. Thankfully there was no rain for…

Scarborough Toyota  hosted an event just to showcase the new FRS along with a mini car show. I’m sure everyone has heard enough about this new platform from the media blast in the past 6 months, just as I did. If you haven’t we are truly happy that you have finally come out of that comma! After reading all the reviews stating that this car is a true driver’s car that brings out the experience with specific designs to make the car handle well, I just had to check it out myself. We’ve all seen the size comparison chart showing the FRS…
